Content

Action comedy targeted towards Salman Khan fans. Mostly meant to entertain, where the main lead lives for an adrenalin rush (“Kick”) in life, with a strong undertone of Robinhood-type personality. Movie does have a positive message of philanthropy and helping others in need, although the character’s means of getting the money to help the needy are atypical.

Violence
Most of the violence is either slapstick or on a large scale, like superhero-based movies, where destruction and blowing up of cars and buildings is the name of the game. In some animated fight sequence breaking of bones is shown.

In one sequence, a couple commits suicide; blood is shown and might be disturbing for young kids. In another sequence, a fight erupts following the harassment of a girl by few shady characters in a restaurant.

Sexuality 

Flirtation & romance shown between main characters. No nudity is shown.

 

Language 

No hard curse words are used. The word “Kaminey” is used few times.

Drinking, drugs, & smoking

Drinking is shown in a few sequences in the movie. In two different long sequences, two characters get drunk.

Morality/Attitude/Behavior

The main character’s lifestyle is larger than life and is shown to be living only for an adrenaline rush. He is also shown to be living an unstable life, and is confused and non-committal towards love for a long term.  Although shown to be philanthropic, his means to fund his efforts and taking the law in his own hands, in order to be cool, are often irrational.

Bechdel test 0.5/3

Movie has more than two female characters, but only the main female lead has a significant role. Women do talk to one another, but most of the discussions are about marriage and boys.   The movie is not very strong on the Bechdel scale.

Bottom line

Kick is made to order for die-hard Salman Khan fans who would not mind him repeating the same antics in different movies. Overall the movie is clean; except a few over the top violence sequences, and a few lengthy drinking scenes, it is safe for 10+ year-olds who have an understanding of superhero movies and some mature content.
