BollySitter says

JIGARIYAA is an old-fashioned poor-boy-loves-rich-girl-despite-parental-opposition love story set in Agra and inspired yet again by Romeo and Juliet. The film is appropriate for viewing with kids in the 13+ age group due to certain mature themes involving the prevalent caste system in India and offers nothing new in terms of content or entertainment.

Content

Jigariyaa tells the tragic love story of the poor son of a sweets maker (“halwaai”) who falls in love with a girl from an affluent family, and the opposition that they both face from society as well as their parents. The film is well shot and captures the essence of Agra, in the backdrop of the beautiful Taj Mahal. However, despite good photography and some decent music, the movie remains a rehash of old Bollywood films from yesteryears, with not much of a repeat entertainment value.
