BollySitter says

Ekkees Toppon Ki Salaami is a social satire. Although the film is appropriate for viewing with kids in the 10+ years age, the subject and treatment may appeal to kids over 13 as the film does get heavy handed at times.

Two sons set out to get their father what he dreamt of all through his life – the ultimate sign of respect. The film takes the audience through the attempt of the sons to provide their father “Ekkees Toppon Ki Salaami” (21 gun salute – as a State honor for one’s exemplary life in public service).

Few slapping scenes.

Intense & Frightening scenes

There is a prolonged death scene and the dead body is used as a prop in the second half of the movie.

There is no overt sexuality in the film, except some age appropriate romance. Like any other Hindi movie these days there is a song with some risqué moves.

Some double-meaning dialogues are used in the film which have sexual innuendos. Although no hard curse words are used, a character speaks about a female character in a derogatory manner and uses words like kutiya(bitch), chudail(witch), haraami(bastard) and rakhail(mistress). The main characters talk to their father in a disrespectful manner and insult his good old values in the first half of the film.

Drinking, drugs, & smoking

There are a couple of scenes where characters are shown drinking alcohol.

The film has an underlining theme of good old values of honesty, which also comes with the corruption in the society. There are sequences of people duping and using others for their own good. The lead characters’ behavior towards their father is inappropriate in the first half.

Discussion points

Parents can talk to kids about how old values are useful in today’s society, and whether the father’s character was shown to be an irrational idealist or an objective rationalist. Parents can also discuss how corruption affects the everyday life of a common citizen.

Bechdel test 2/3

There are three to four female characters in the film, but besides the main lead the other characters don’t have a significant role. The characters interact but most of the conversations are about men in the story.
